Paper pinwheels are easy to make, and so gorgeous to look at. They’ve been a biiiig trend in DIY weddings in the last few years. I won’t lie — I had a ribbon pinwheel fastened to my noggin at my own nuptials two years ago! They’re just the sweetest little way to make a small, or in the case of some of the party walls above, large, impact at a party or in your home decor. Pinwheels forever!

Yakawonis Quilling, based in Portland, Maine, is a shop that features a variety of wonderful prints. My personal favorite is the Ron Swanson piece, followed closely by the peacock. I love that this shop features pieces that range from culturally referential to artistic to accessible. You can find a gift for an auntie or a hip college friend in one place with Yakawonis.

Both of my siblings-in-law have birthdays right around Christmas, and I understand it can be kind of annoying to have your would-be special day overshadowed by tons of activities and family gatherings. What better way to make someone feel like you took the time to acknowledge their birthday than with a special, explicitly non-Christmas card! While  these cards have the traditionally festive colors of green and gold in common, their chic styling and fun messages are sure to stand out.

As a librarian, I am a sucker for good book plates. Day in and day out, the modern public librarian sees bar codes, RFID tags, typed and taped call numbers, and glossed over book jackets. The wonderful thing about one’s own book collection is the ability to embellish it in a warm, however-you-want-it way. Today, I’ve rounded up ten of my favorite book plates from around the web. Some of these are vintage-inspired and others are uber-modern. Enjoy!

I love Paperoni Press’ simple, graphic style and lovely color choices.  Among their designs are several varieties of origami stationery, as well as nature-inspired and domestic life-inspired items. I love that some of their stationery also comes monogrammed with an initial of your choice. Not only that, my mom’s favorite flower is lily of the valley. I might just have to order an early holiday gift of the origami stationery for myself when I nab the lily stationery for my mom!
